Make-up Review Time: Benefit Cosmetics!

Over the past year I have developed a love for the amazing cosmetics brand, Benefit! Before, I honestly didn't look twice at the mega popular brand from San Francisco. Now they're just another reason for me to love California! I recently bought 'Some Kind-a Gorgeous' foundation faker in medium and "Ooh La Lift" brightener from +ULTA Beauty (well, I asked my mother to pick them up for me on her travels).

I was really impressed with this foundation faker! It's smooth and silky, which gives the idea that it is oily but it's not! It is completely oil-free. So if you have oily skin just like me, I really recommend this product. I found this "cream to powder" foundation great. For 30 dollars, I think it was good value. I didn't notice any shiny oiliness creeping up on my t-zone as the day went on. I did set this with +Benefit Cosmetics Hello Flawless! powder as well for more coverage/finished look. There isn't a lot of coverage in this foundation faker, which is fine for me. It evens out your skin tone and gives a more finished look. I also forgot to mention that I used my two Benefit primers underneath. 'Stay Flawless 15-hour Primer' for most of my face and "The POREfessional" for my t-zone.

How to know if 'Some Kind-a Gorgeous' foundation faker is what you're looking for:
1. If you have oily skin.
2. If you don't need a lot of coverage.
3. You want to even your skin tone out.
4. If you want something light.
5. If you want a cute compact with a sponge.
6. If you want something to carry with easy to top up (if needed).

I didn't fall as much in love with 'Ooh La Lift' brightener as I did with the foundation faker. That was my mistake though. As a highlighter, I probably should have gotten a peachy tone for my skin. This light pink balm didn't hide my dark circles with it's light reflecting pigments as much as I wanted it to. I will try using more next time because it did blend really well and is lightweight. It isn't a waste all the same though. It made a bit of a different over the foundation faker and my concealer 'boi-ing' (Benefit as well). I also tried using it around my lips/cheeks to highlight, which worked pretty well though very subtlety. Main thing is, it won't go to waste!
How to know if 'Ooh La Lift' brightener is what you're looking for:
1. If you want something that is lightweight.
2. If you have lighter skin than me.
3. If you have dark circles you wish to hide.
4. If you want something easy to carry to brighten up your face during the day.
5. If you want something that blends easy into your foundation.
6. If you want to try using this to highlight your cheeks/lips.

It's always sad when you run out of new products to try. I can't wait to try out more of the Benefit products that are on my wishlist! I know I should broaden my horizon when it comes to make-up, but I haven't tried everything I want to try yet from Benefit! Check out their products at:

Dublin Street Style Pilot Edition

So here it is, such a hype and now finally I write this blog post. I have high hopes for the frequent (planned to be) post with my friend/photo man Ethan (latte).

On our first day we didn't have much time to scope for our fellow fashionistas out on the city streets. That's okay though, I wouldn't be out and about if it was raining either. Fortunately we had some dry spells to catch a few of you!

I have to admit, I love the colour scheme. The matching glasses with the shoe laces really stood out to me. Timi's cardigan is far nicer than the one I found online (still love it though) to recreate his look! Ethan and I ran after him when we saw him walking down the street, so if you ever see us running after you, it is a good thing. Don't worry.
Unfortunately, Timi was the only male fashionista we found that day!
If you want to shop this look, here's some of the items I found:

Jeans: Selected clickyclicky
Cardigan: +Farfetch clickyclicky

I discovered a love for jeans during the summer, this includes her awesome vintage mom jeans! I am a total fan of the vintage look. Of course, this look isn't complete without some cat eye liner. I love these shoes I found to recreate her look.. I even might buy them and wear them with my mom jeans.

If you want to shop her look:
Shirt: ONLY clickyclicky

I couldn't find her dress unfortunately, but I found a similar dress in blue to recreate this look! My favourite part about her dress is the collar! Her look is grey-cious with nothing but black and white. The leopard print breaks up the simplicity of it all. Nothing says love like a furry bag too!

Shop this look:
Tights.. You know where to go! +Primark

Even though it was nearing the end of summer it was nice to see these bright colours and floral prints! They were super cute together. I don't plan on letting the winter keep me from floral prints.

Super Cute Shopping list:
Shoes: +TOMS clicky and Office.co.uk
Jeans: +H&M clicky
Top: +MANGO clicky

Myself? I wore a necklace I found in a boutique store when I was in Tenerife during the summer. My high rise jeans are from +River Island along with my jacket. The crochet top I'm wearing is from a Kilo Sale annually hosted by +FOLKSTER.

I hope to have a new post every month on fashionistas around Dublin city because fashion is everywhere, not just my closet as I've said before.

That's all folks.

PS. Thanks to all you fashionistas doing your thing!

Winter Wardrobe Essentials

Life has been hectic with the wedding and other things.. Never fear though, I am back to stay.

I have noticed the weather has become colder, I am sure everyone feels that chill in the air. I cannot stand the cold! SO this winter essential for me; a furry fluffy coat. Why furry and fluffy you ask? Animals. The furry ones wearing their natural coats never seem to shiver. Of course any jacket/coat I would buy will be faux fur I would like to add.

The brand I am loving at the moment is +Quiz Clothing, I discovered their clothing in +Debenhams and I just loved everything! The summer collected was so colourful and floral, plus affordable! So, I took flight to their site to take a look at the winter coats. My two favourite coats would have to be:

Casual VS Formal

In my opinion I would wear both of them casual and formal, but that isn't for everyone. For those who aren't digging the full fur look, the boyfriend jacket is gorgeous with the just a fur collar. I would style both these coats with a pair of dark denim jeans during the day and a little black dress in the evening. Warm stylish coats are an investment! So make sure to get a good coat that will last in your growing collection of coats for years to come... Soon you'll have a coat for every week in winter! Although, you might want to think about taking that trip to IKEA for a bigger closet!

Check out Quiz Clothing at: http://www.quizclothing.co.uk/

They offer 15% off for students as well!

Birthday Wishlist

The greatest thing about getting older: new clothes.

My birthday is coming up! The first of November (26 more full days). I have already done some hunting for a birthday outfit! After all, one must look the best on their birthday.. actually everyday to be honest. Today I went into my usual haunt, +River Island and I found this beautiful floral skirt/shorts. I love the autumn vibe from them! I match the shorts with an orange high neck top. I couldn't find the exact one to put into my collage, the one I was looking at had a subtle design through it.
I also got a pair of heels today in Viola, I plan on wearing them with whatever I decide to wear. I'll put a link to ones on +Misspaparazzixx that are their closest twin.
I also really love the colour blue on me AND I'm loving the velvet material in the +OfficialPLT cobalt mini dress.

I know I want more +Michael Kors in my life, I just can't decided what I want for my birthday! I adore all the watches and all the bags... I just need to decided what I would like the most for my birthday.

Spoiled or lucky?

Miss Pap shoes are nearly the same other than the platform in my shoes are black : clicky

Getting Back to Routine - Part II

Once again, here I go.
I am not really living up to the whole fitness aspect in my life that I so desperately try to cling on to. I get bored easily, and I have fostered a lazy personality. At least since I have started College, I have been a relatively clean eater. In my college fridge/press there is: Alpen granola, soya milk, coffee, peppers, pineapple, plums, cucumber, carrots, brown rice, WHITE pasta (the horror), brown bread, wholemeal tortilla wraps, low fat yogurts and eggs. Of course I have mince beef, chicken fillets, sea salt, coconut oil, green tea, garlic cloves, tinned beans of sorts and chili and mango dressing. The things I am seriously lacking in is lettuce and tomatoes though.. AND a few spices could do with being added to my collection of few.

The main thing in college (in my personal opinion) is to not go with convenience food or eat out. No packet soups (though time to time I am guilty of that). No sweets or crisps/chips. I wouldn't shun popcorn completely though, we all need a treat once in awhile. No harm in that is there? Especially if you avail of the gym in college. I have no excuses because the gym on campus is free of charge to use! This is my second week here and I have only been to the gym once. I am ashamed. Tomorrow morning I plan to get up before my 1 o'clock lecture and get that work out in! Kicking that lazy personality in the bud will be hard but oh so rewarding in the end. I selected a work out on http://www.bodybuilding.com/ to get my groove back. It is a 30 day beginners challenge for people that have never worked out before or who have been away from the gym for far too long. I did start this program last week but I assumed it was too easy for me so I added extra weights to my workout. Needless to say... It was a cruel thing to do to my legs.
Now that I am able to walk properly again, I'm going to do exactly what it says.

Here is the 30 Day Challenge  workout link as seen. If you are way past the title "beginner" I would recommend still checking out the site. There are lots of free programs for every type of level of fitness to go around.

Made-up Recipes

Fitness is, "the condition of being physically fit and healthy".

I have seriously slacked in this end. I'll tell you all about this new program I am trying out in my next post, but for now let's talk food. In my ideal kitchen there would be a surplus of cheeses, ice cream, cakes, white bread.. Need I go on? Fortunately for me I have adopted the ways of all things brown (doesn't sound right, I know.) Brown rice, brown bread, brown pasta and even brown noodles. It makes me feel better about eating carbohydrates.
Anyways, I was straying from the topic of my made up super simple recipe. It has most likely probably been done a hundred times but here's my version from my head:

You'll need:
Garlic cloves, coconut oil (or olive oil), mince meat (beef or turkey is the best), pasata, cumin, chilli pepper, paprika, basil (dry or leaves), any vegetable you see fit. I have even used kale in this dish. Oh and of course you'll need brown pasta and some mozzarella cheese. I don't know why mozzarella is the cheese that pops up in diet books such as The South Beach Diet Book.. so I figured this was the best option.

I use coconut oil in cooking because it's supposedly the new "superfood" with proven health benefits including fat loss and better brain functioning. Don't worry, it doesn't add a coconut taste to your cooking! I wouldn't use it if it did (YUCK).

What to do (in a nutshell):
Since I always use carrots, I usually fry them with the chopped up garlic at the start to insure they're cooked all the way through in the end.
Add mince meat (I usually use lean mince beef, I know turkey would be better health wise!) until brown/white.
I boil up some pasta in the background
I stir in a tablespoon of chilli powder, paprika, cumin, basil and pinch of salt. (four people recipe by the way)
I preheat the oven to 200 degrees
I add two peppers (green preferred, less sugar), mushrooms, tomatoes, celery and asparagus. I basically use whatever I can get my hands on. This is a good way to use up all your extra vegetables and whatnot.
I add the pasata sauce and bring to boil.
Once this is all cooked I mix the pasta and meat into a dish and layer the top with grated mozzarella cheese and bake.

Annnnnd out comes Pasta Bake in 20 minutes.
Serve with some yummy salad.

Sometimes I use actual chili peppers instead of powder

Newbie to Uni

It's been awhile again hasn't it?
I moved in yesterday wide eyed and bushy tailed to college. Oh the excitement I thought I would feel. Since it is only orientation week, not everyone is back yet (so I have high hopes for next weeks events). SO it's been boring and quiet, partly (or all) because you can't get internet until you register. I know it's so sad to have such a need for the internet but when you forget a book or some movies you really learn to appreciate what you had when you had it (internet). Anyways enough about that, I found out there was a way around not getting access until Friday registrations and so I'm here now!
In fairness it's only the first day, and there are a lot of events during these two weeks, so things should look brighter after this evening's frat party.

I had done a few 'floordrobe' outfits for my college packing, I should have done more though! I am really excited about not having to put on a uniform 5 days out of the week anymore. I am also pleasantly surprised about the generous space given in the closet. I'll have plenty of things to wear all year long.

Going for a bit of a "Clueless" look here with a preppy look. Loving dog/hounds tooth print but I don't think the weather matches it yet!

Weather seems to be staying moderately warm so I've gone for skirts! Pretty and casual in floral and denim.

Most of these items are from +FOLKSTER /Shutterbug or +River Island

I have a lot of things to catch up on such as the New York/London fashion week, I missed a few designers that I wanted to see. Hopefully I will have lots of time to stay on top of Mocha Skin and everything else.
Till then,
au revoir

The Wild Atlantic Way Weekend Away - Part IV

This morning I rolled out of bed really needed to wear something comfortable that I could just throw on. What could be more perfect than a swing dress? It was a steal for ten euro on sale in a small boutique called “Virgo” in Newcastle West. It’s one of those comfy casual dresses with cap sleeves perfect for a warm day with a heavy head. I decided to do some print mixing today with this floral dress and the newspaper clutch that was also bought for a steal in Virgo. We went for a walk after breakfast on the beach that is smack bang right in front of the Armada (how perfect?). The only jacket I brought was my over-sized go-to denim for the weekend.

That's it on my Wild Atlantic Way journey! If you're ever down this way it's a beautiful drive along the west coast of Ireland. What could be more refreshing than 2,500 km of coastal drive? AND if you happen to pass through Newcastle West, I recommend you stop by at Virgo for really nice pieces for great prices! I only wished I had a bigger wallet (and closet) for everything.

Check out their Facebook here : Virgo

Till next time folks
